A dark congregation of familiar faces gathered around the quiet earth
A red rose fell upon the soft snow, prayers were whispered so slow from our mouths
Our breath rose in the cold like a hundred souls escaping

The battle was won at a great cost. Funeral’s filled the schedules of survivors for months as they mourned friends and family. Fathers. Mothers. Brothers. Sisters. Lovers. Friends. Not one person in the wizarding community didn’t feel the pain; the cold feeling that fell upon them in the morn once the initial drowsiness of one who had just arisen faded away and they realized that they would not see someone that day nor ever again. But the evil was gone and people could begin their lives once more without fear and a new generation was born, one that did not fear Death Eaters and the Dark Mark and soon great warriors were merely people in pictures and memories and lost their substance.

Save me, I am swallowed by the guilt of this
You're gone, sleeping in the dust
We will not let time erase us

Neville Longbottom was given the honor of becoming Hogwarts’s Headmaster two years after the battle, after Minerva McGonagall decided that it was time for a new era at Hogwarts to begin and she stepped down from her position as headmistress. The youngest Headmaster ever was pleased but knew as new students roamed the halls, so did the ghosts of the past. Within ten years, a new generation had sprung up in Hogwarts and so did old prejudices that people had hoped had evaporated during the war. But they remained and soon words like ‘Mudblood’ were heard whispered by people who thought that Voldemort had the right idea. And not only Slytherins.

We are surrounded by all of the quiet sleepers inside the quiet earth
A form of fear I cannot shape - you dared to kiss the face of the night
Our lips were cold as clay, we couldn't speak anyway

Eighteen years passed since the Battle and children of the survivors, and some who had passed, began to roam the halls of Hogwarts. But groups started to form and it seemed as if a war of the bloodlines had never occurred. Blood was everything as it had never been before as students tried to prove that they were better than one another, being related to this and that person or being able to trace their family into the medieval ages. Students were constantly dueling in the hallways, against the rules of course, and finding themselves in the Hospital Wing because of an ‘accident’. The staff turned a blind eye as much as they could but the saw that groups were forming of students, ones to harm and ones to guard against those who saw themselves as better.

Save me, I am swallowed by the guilt of this
You're gone, sleeping in the dust
We will not let time erase us
Our breath rose in the cold like a hundred souls
We, we are alone, I know you're gone
Save me, I am swallowed by the guilt of this
You're gone, sleeping in the dust
We will not let time erase us

Some say that those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it and Headmaster Longbottom has found himself thinking this a lot lately. But fighting between students, while never allowed generally were turned a blind eye from by the staff and let the students handle it. But the groups are growing and more attacks are occurring, by Slytherins particularly, and it’s as if light and dark congregations have been formed.
