All we need is a little bit of momentum
Breakdown these walls that we’ve built around ourselves
All we need is a little bit of inertia
Breakdown and tell, breakdown and tell

The Room of Requirements is the room that serves every person in Hogwarts needs and desires. If you need a room to hide from the caretaker, it will form a closet for you. If you need somewhere to do something against the law of the land (namely the rules of Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry), you’ll find a space with all the equipment you need. But what about the people who need something more than just someplace to be or items to use? What about the people whom are having issues with their life that they just cannot talk about with their friends and family? In most places, the answer would be that they would have to sort their problems out all on their own. But the past few years at Hogwarts, something has been going on.

Nobody knows who started The Group, but it doesn’t really matter. What matter’s is the fact that The Group began several years ago and since then, for some time each week, house alliances and rivalries are forgotten. Nothing is important outside of the Room of Requirements when the Group is in session. People already in the Group don’t invite the new members rather they are selected. If a student appears at the Room of Requirements with a burdened mind and conscience, a note appears on the door, telling them to keep the paper and a date and time shows up, the next meeting time. If the student goes, they may leave whenever they feel like it. But while they are there, they can take the time to relax and talk.

It’s surprising how much one would open up to people with whom they have no relationship. But the Head Girl, Lauren McLaggen, has no qualms opening up to the Group about her fear of never being loved by someone out of her immediate family. Rick Weasley has no problems talking about his issues with his brothers; Georgiana Nott doesn’t feel in the wrong when wondering how she ended up in such an evil family. Miles Abercrombie hardly thinks about it when he tells the Group how he is unsure of his sexuality. Elf Jordan tells the group about her bouts of depression. But they are not the only ones. David Hale talks about how he hates having to live up to his twin’s grades since their Muggle parents think that all witches and wizards should be equally smart. There are other problems and other students, of course. Some students come once or twice in order to vent, but this is this year’s core of the Group.

But while the core, there is something unsaid within the room. Nothing leaves the Group or the Room of Requirement. Unless you were friendly before, you are not friends. Not because of the Group. The Group is a respite from the world, allowing you some time to let down the protection around your heart and mind. But that is all. There is nothing else to the Group. So come and relax but do not become too reckless to let on to the world who is a member for nobody wants the Group ousted.

Cheat Sheet
-The Group is a type of secret society in Hogwarts where students can relax and open up
-Students from every house and year are part of it and rivalries are forgotten during the meetings
    -Secrecy is key
