Here is how it works:

One person says either an object, animal, person (must be fictional) or a place.

For example: Banana

The next person writes Banana and underneath puts something associated with bananas. For example Monkey like this:

Banana
Monkey

The next person thinks of something associated with the LAST thing from the previous post. This is so that what gets posted in the chain doesn't get repeated, unless a new chain is started.

If you can't think of anything, write the chain from the previous post and start a new post.
